Petro Tykhonov was born in the region of Lviv, but lived in the Lozova community of Kharkiv region from the age of two. His parents died when he was young and he was raised by his aunt, Kateryna Petrivna.
Petro first studied at the Poltava Educational Complex, and later received his higher education at the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport, qualifying as a high-speed train engineer. At the same time, he worked as a train attendant. He worked at Ukrzaliznytsia as a passenger car attendant in the Kharkiv-Sortuvalnyi depot.
After the outbreak of the full-scale invasion, Petro volunteered for the Lozova Territorial Defense. He later completed training as a drone operator and served in the 113th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces. He was awarded the Golden Cross distinction and the medal ‘To the Indomitable Heroes of the Russo-Ukrainian War.’
On 12 July, one week before his scheduled wedding date, Petro was killed by a Russian FPV drone strike. He was 22 years old.
‘He dearly loved his foster grandfather and was a wonderful brother,’ the Lozova City Council reported.
Petro is survived by his aunt, his fiancée, his brother, and other relatives.
