Alamin Mohamed N was born in Wad Sharifi. Before the outbreak of war he had been living and working as a restaurant owner and businessman in Wad Madani. In December 2023, following the capture of Wad Madani by the Rapid Support Forces paramilitary group, Alamin moved to Kasala State.
In Kasala, Alamin continued to work in the restaurant business. However, on 30 August, armed men believed to be government General Intelligence Services (GIS) officers arrested Alamin at his family home. They took him to the GIS offices in Kasala town, approximately 13 kilometres away, where he was interrogated and detained. Witnesses stated that Alamin was beaten during detention, leading to serious injuries.
It was alleged that Alamin was arrested on suspicion of being an RSF informer and supporter. His family say he was not politically active and had no connection to the RSF or any other groups involved in the conflict in Sudan. They believe his arrest was the result of a personal dispute.
At around 1am on the morning of 31 August, the same GIS officers returned to Alamin’s family home with his lifeless body showing signs of torture. He was buried on 2 September.
Sudan’s military and security agencies have been accused of widespread abuses against civilians in areas under their control, particularly those accused of supporting the Rapid Support Forces. Legislation provides broad legal immunity to security service officials.
