Kyaw Gyi was from Bago and was the youngest of four children.
After the military coup in 2021, Kyaw Gyi joined the nationwide civil disobedience and opposition movement. He joined the Free Burma Rangers in 2022 to help with humanitarian work and supporting children affected by the conflict. Colleagues remember him as a constantly-smiling member of the team who made everyone laugh.
Kyaw Gyi was killed by the Myanmar military in Toungoo District, northern Karen State, on 20 March. He was 31.

ကျော်ကြီးသည် မတ်လ ၂၀ ရက်နေ့တွင် ကရင်ပြည်နယ်မြောက်ပိုင်း တောင်ငူခရိုင်၌ စစ်ကောင်စီတပ်၏ လုပ်ကြံခြင်းခံရပါသည်။ သူသည် ကျဆုံးချိန်တွင် အသက် ၃၁ နှစ်သာရှိပါသည်။
