Allam Jaradat was a 48-year-old resident of Silat al-Harithiya, west of Jenin District. He was a technology teacher at Walid Abu Muwais Basic School for Boys, where he had worked for several years.
Allam graduated from an-Najah National University in Nablus in 1999 with a degree in economics. He went on to become a teacher and had worked at several schools in Jenin before beginning his role at Walid Abu Muwais School. He was well-loved and respected by his pupils and colleagues, and considered a dedicated teacher.
In 2006, Allam worked for a year at his local municipality. His brother said:
‘He ran for the presidency of Silat al-Harithiya municipality and received the most votes, even though he was the youngest of the candidates. This was because he respected everyone and loved them.’
On the morning of 21 May, Allam was getting a lift to work with three other colleagues. At the same time, Israel Defence Forces and intelligence services were beginning a raid on the city of Jenin and Jenin refugee camp. As Allam and his colleagues approached al-Saouha, Israeli soldiers began firing on their vehicle. Allam was hit in the back of the head by one of the bullets. He was transferred to al-Razi hospital but was pronounced brain-dead. A short while later, doctors declared him dead.
During the course of the raid, which lasted two days, 12 Palestinians were killed and at least 15 were wounded.
Allam leaves behind two children, aged 14 and 10.
