Abdulghani Mustafa Munir was a qualified architect from Aleppo city. To escape the war in Syria he fled to Turkey as a refugee, whe he worked in construction.
In April 2024, the Turkish authorities forced Abdulghani to return to Syria. He was arrested by al-Assad regime forces on 17 August, as he tried to return to his home town of Aleppo.
On 10 September, Abdulghani’s family received notification from members of the al-Assad regime forces that Abdulghani had died inside the Military Security Branch in Aleppo city. His body was returned to them the next day, bearing signs of torture.
